If you've accepted a position at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, congratulations — and welcome to Jacksonville!
Once the excitement of a new job settles in, one of the biggest questions is usually:
Where should I live near Mayo Clinic Jacksonville?
The good news is that Mayo Clinic's Jacksonville campus is surrounded by several very different residential areas. You can live in a gated luxury community, choose a waterfront home with your boat behind the house, find a newer master-planned neighborhood, or opt for a luxury condo with relatively low-maintenance living.
And because Mayo Clinic is located on San Pablo Road, you're also within easy reach of Jacksonville's beaches, the Intracoastal Waterway, shopping, restaurants and major roadways.
As a Jacksonville Realtor who works with relocation and waterfront buyers, these are some of the areas I recommend exploring when you're moving to Jacksonville for a job at Mayo Clinic. These are by no means your only options. Jacksonville has many other neighborhoods and communities that could be a great fit for someone working at Mayo Clinic, but these are a good starting point as you begin exploring the area and deciding which location and lifestyle feel right for you.

Watch: MOVING TO JACKSONVILLE FOR MAYO CLINIC
Let's take a closer look.
Pablo Bay: Convenient to Mayo Clinic Jacksonville
If keeping your commute short is high on your priority list, Pablo Bay is worth considering.
Located very close to the Mayo Clinic campus, Pablo Bay is an established residential community with amenities that include pools, tennis facilities, walking paths, playground areas and community spaces.
It's a good example of why people relocating to Jacksonville shouldn't automatically assume they need to live at the beach to be close to Mayo. You can be conveniently located for work while still having relatively easy access to Jacksonville Beach, the Intracoastal Waterway and the rest of the Beaches area.
Best suited for: Buyers who place a high priority on convenience, neighborhood amenities and proximity to Mayo Clinic.
Glen Kernan: Luxury Living, Golf and Privacy
For buyers looking for a more luxurious setting, Glen Kernan offers something very different.
This gated golf and country club community is known for larger homes, beautifully maintained surroundings and a more private residential environment.
Its location also makes it attractive to people who want convenient access to Mayo Clinic without giving up proximity to the Beaches, St. Johns Town Center and other parts of Jacksonville.
Homes here tend to be at the higher end of the Jacksonville market, so this is an area I would particularly consider for physicians, executives and other relocation buyers looking for luxury property.
Best suited for: Luxury buyers who value privacy, golf, larger homes and a gated community.
Pablo Creek Reserve: Custom Luxury Homes Near Mayo Clinic
Pablo Creek Reserve is another option for buyers searching for luxury homes near Mayo Clinic Jacksonville.
This gated community is known for custom homes, larger properties and an upscale residential setting. Inventory can be limited, and homes can reach well into the multimillion-dollar range.
One of its biggest advantages for someone working at Mayo Clinic is location. You can have the privacy and space of a luxury community without choosing a home that puts you a significant distance from the hospital.
If you're relocating to Jacksonville and looking at the upper end of the market, Pablo Creek Reserve should certainly be on your list of communities to explore.
Best suited for: Buyers looking for custom construction, privacy, larger luxury homes and close proximity to Mayo Clinic.
Isle of Palms: Waterfront Living and Boating Near Mayo Clinic
This one is particularly close to my heart because Isle of Palms is also where I live.
For someone who works at Mayo Clinic but dreams about the Jacksonville waterfront lifestyle, Isle of Palms offers a very different option from the gated communities nearby.
The neighborhood includes canal-front homes where some properties have private docks and boat access to the Intracoastal Waterway.
That means your weekday might involve a relatively short trip to work, while your weekend could involve walking out your back door, getting on the boat and heading toward the Intracoastal.
There are also non-waterfront homes within the neighborhood, making Isle of Palms worth exploring even if having a dock isn't essential.
Waterfront properties require some additional due diligence, however. Flood zones, insurance, docks, bulkheads, tides and water access should all be considered when comparing properties.
Best suited for: Mayo Clinic employees who want boating, waterfront living, access to the Intracoastal and proximity to Jacksonville's beaches.
Tamaya: Newer Homes and Resort-Style Amenities
If you prefer a newer, master-planned community, Tamaya is another area to consider.
Located between Jacksonville's city center and the Beaches, Tamaya is a gated community known for its Mediterranean-inspired architecture and extensive amenities.
Depending on the property, you'll find newer construction, community pools, fitness facilities, walking trails, tennis and other recreational amenities.
Tamaya can be particularly appealing to relocation buyers who want a community that feels established but still offers many of the features associated with newer construction and master-planned living.
It also provides convenient access to Mayo Clinic while keeping you well positioned for the Beaches and other parts of Jacksonville.
Best suited for: Buyers looking for newer homes, gated living, community amenities and a central location between Jacksonville and the Beaches.
Marina San Pablo: Luxury Waterfront Condos Near Mayo Clinic
Not everyone relocating to Jacksonville wants a single-family home.
For buyers who prefer luxury condo living, Marina San Pablo offers an interesting alternative.
Located near Mayo Clinic and the Intracoastal Waterway, the community offers waterfront condominium residences along with amenities such as a pool, fitness facilities and marina access.
This can be particularly appealing to buyers who travel frequently or simply don't want the maintenance responsibilities that come with owning a larger single-family property.
And for someone who wants both waterfront living and convenient access to Mayo Clinic, the location is difficult to overlook.
Best suited for: Buyers looking for luxury waterfront condo living, lower-maintenance ownership and proximity to Mayo Clinic.
So, Where Should You Live If You Work at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville?
There isn't one neighborhood that's right for every Mayo Clinic employee.
That's why I encourage relocation buyers to think beyond commute time.
Ask yourself what you want your life in Jacksonville to look like when you're not at work.
Do you want to keep a boat behind your house?
Would you rather live in a gated golf community?
Do you want newer construction and resort-style amenities?
Would a luxury waterfront condo better fit your lifestyle?
Or is being as close as possible to the hospital your highest priority?
Your workplace may determine where you start looking, but your lifestyle should help determine where you end up living.
